Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) is Azure's cloud identity and access management service. Every user, group, application, and device in your Azure environment has an identity in Entra ID.
az login authenticates your Azure CLI session. In a CI/CD pipeline you'd use a Service Principal with a client secret or a Managed Identity — but the same az commands work in both cases.
