Internship — SSLabs Deployment

The SSLabs Deployment Internship puts you inside the engineering team building and running the real infrastructure behind SKILL.SCH. You will self-host production-grade video infrastructure (LiveKit, Jitsi Meet), manage cloud VMs on Azure, write deployment runbooks, and ship real features to a live platform used by thousands of learners. No toy projects — every task runs in production.

What You'll Do

  • Self-host and operate LiveKit and Jitsi Meet on Azure VMs — configure TLS, TURN/STUN, and systemd services
  • Write and maintain Nginx reverse-proxy configurations for WebRTC workloads
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment scripts (rsync, GitHub Actions)
  • Monitor infrastructure with Prometheus and Grafana — build dashboards and configure alerts
  • Harden servers: UFW, SSH key-only auth, log rotation, automated backups
  • Contribute to SSLabs lab environments used directly by students on the platform
  • Document every deployment as a production runbook
  • Participate in weekly engineering stand-ups and async code reviews

What We're Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, DevOps, or related programme
  • Comfortable in a Linux terminal — you know your way around SSH, file permissions, and package managers
  • Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, ports, TCP/UDP, firewalls)
  • Eagerness to own real work — you thrive with production responsibility, not busy work

Nice to Have

  • Any hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD tools
  • Exposure to WebRTC, LiveKit, Jitsi, or any video infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Completion of any SKILL.SCH course — especially Cloud & DevOps Foundation
